My (modern) love Story

Honestly, I usually want to lie when people ask how we met because the truth is, it was on bumble at the very beginning of COVID. What a strange time, right? I still have screenshots from the group chat with my sisters where I talked about matching with him and they begged me to give him a chance so I’d have some fresh tea to spill.

Our first date was at a Starbucks with a closed dining room, (covid, remember?) so We headed to the park across the street, but of course- that was also closed. Naturally, we ended up walking aimlessly for 3+ hours as we talked and got to know each other. After that first date, we very quickly started spending every minute we could together.

Starting to feel like a little family

As time went on, we met each others families and he introduced me to Aria, his 5 yr old daughter. I instantly loved her as my own and we began to feel like a family. Aurora came along 2 years later and completed our family- but I’m getting ahead of myself. So, Alexander proposed (without any pressure) and we started wedding planning.

We absolutely loved the idea of eloping in a national park. and having an amazing trip with a talented photographer, but decided we wanted our closest family present and opted for a micro wedding at Toccoa Falls, Georgia, and it was everything we wanted it to be. Our photos came out so beautiful and we know we will cherish them eternally, but I don’t think I ever even considered hiring a videographer- like I said we’re minimalists and generally pretty frugal.

Now that I make wedding films, I often think about what our would’ve looked like if we had done it. Just like our photos, it would’ve showed how happy and excited I was to get ready with my favorite girls in the world. But unlike our photos, it would’ve included the sounds of our laughter, the sweet words that were exchanged, the reactions of my loved ones when they saw me in my wedding dress. I would get to experience every moment of the first look Aria did with Alexander. Aurora would get to watch the day unfold as we experienced it.

I can’t tell you how much I wish I could go back and have a video of our day that captures the parts I’ve been try to replay in my head and pray will never fade.

That’s why I do what I do. I document weddings because I’m passionate about the unscripted realness that happens. The raw emotions, the candid moments, the laughter through tears. True connection. These are the moments you’re going to want to remember and they’re the moments I won't miss
